SIDEWAYS LOGIC

Privacy Policy

Majority Is Wrong turns your gameplay into private, account-linked insights. It does not create advertising or sensitive-personality profiles. This policy explains the limited data needed to run, secure, personalize, and improve the game.

Effective August 26, 2026

Who operates the game

Majority Is Wrong is operated by Sideways Logic. In this policy, “we”, “our”, and “the game” refer to Sideways Logic and Majority Is Wrong.

Data we process

Account and identity

Every installation receives a random guest account. If you choose Google sign-in, we receive the account identifier, display name, and email address needed to link and restore your progress. We do not receive your Google password.

Gameplay and progress

We store your selected answers, crowd predictions, completion history, scores, streaks, achievements, and the minimum timestamps needed to calculate reveals and progression.

Private gameplay insights

We use confirmed scoring answers and predictions to create your private Weekly Recap and category-level Opinion DNA. These views contain gameplay ratios, sample sizes, and changes over time. They describe play observed so far; they are not psychological, medical, credit, or advertising profiles, are not public, and are not used to target advertising.

Notifications and device delivery

If reveal notifications are enabled, we process a Firebase installation and push token plus notification preferences. The notification payload does not contain your answers or result percentages.

Diagnostics and optional usage analytics

Release builds collect limited crash and performance diagnostics to keep the game reliable. These reports exclude question text, answers, share tokens, and account identifiers from our custom metadata. Optional usage analytics are off until you enable them in the app and contain only a restricted event vocabulary, such as completing a round or opening results. Our server associates those optional events with your internal game account to measure retention and prevent duplicate counting; it does not include question text, selected answers, or public identity details.

Install attribution and sharing

Google Play may provide an install-referrer campaign and an opaque referral token. Shared result links use expiring opaque tokens; the public link does not expose your account ID or private answers.

Friend Challenges

You may create an anonymous Friend Challenge from one revealed Daily or World question. The link contains only a random, expiring token—not a name, account ID, question, answer, or result. Before a recipient answers, the service returns only the frozen question and options. After the recipient submits their own answer and crowd prediction, they can see the sender's anonymous choice and the frozen crowd comparison. Challenge choices are private, bounded, non-scoring gameplay actions; the sender cannot see recipient identities or responses.

Optional feedback

If you choose to send feedback, we store the category and optional message you provide. The submission is associated with your current guest or Google-linked game account, so it is not anonymous. We also include the entry screen, relevant question or result identifiers, app version, Android API level, and locale. We do not automatically attach your selected answers, question text, sign-in tokens, advertising identifiers, or device model.

Why we use data

  • to provide Daily, World, Friend Challenge, reveal, history, and profile features;
  • to personalize private Weekly Recap and Opinion DNA views;
  • to sync progress and restore a Google-linked account;
  • to send notifications you request;
  • to prevent abuse, enforce rate limits, and secure the service;
  • to diagnose failures and improve game performance;
  • to receive and act on optional player feedback;
  • to measure product use only when optional analytics are enabled.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use gameplay answers for targeted advertising, and this version of the game contains no ad SDK.

Service providers

We use Supabase for authentication, database, and server functions; and Google services for Google sign-in, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, optional Firebase Analytics, and Google Play install attribution. These providers process data under their own privacy and security terms on our behalf.

Retention and deletion

Google-linked account and gameplay data remain until you delete the account. Inactive anonymous accounts, their associated game data, and optional analytics are eligible for automatic removal after 90 days of inactivity. Shared-result and Friend Challenge tokens expire after 30 days. Friend Challenge snapshots and responses are deleted with their source accounts; expired challenge records are removed through routine cleanup. Feedback follows the retention period of its associated account and is deleted when that account is deleted. Stored weekly recaps and category insights are deleted with their source account data. Limited operational records may remain for a short period in encrypted backups or provider systems before routine deletion.

You can permanently delete your account and associated gameplay data from the app or through our account deletion page.

Security and international processing

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. We apply row-level access controls, server-side validation, and least- privilege service credentials. Our providers may process data in countries outside your own, subject to their lawful transfer safeguards.

Your choices

  • Use the game as a guest without Google linking.
  • Disable optional usage analytics in You → Privacy.
  • Disable reveal notifications in You → Notifications.
  • Sign out from a linked Google account.
  • Delete the account and its associated data permanently.
